I have been involved in auto racing since I was 10
years old. I have spent over 25
years at the racetrack every Saturday night, only missing two races.
I started out working on the 162 of Dave Lescord's (my brothers) car and as I
got
older my responsibilities increased. My main job was to purchase, measure,
and
make sure the tire stagger was correct. Each time the car would come in
and/or go
out the track tire temperatures, tire pressures and sizes all needed to be
recorded
and adjusted accordingly. This mean many trips a night to the barn to
refill the air
tank. It was a demanding, hot, and dirty job but I loved it.
In 1993 my role as "tire girl" was taken over by other crew members and I
became the teams spotter. I have been in this role every since. If
you have ever
seen Nascar you know what this job entails. Basically, you keep the driver
out
of trouble and help him get to the front. This is a very stressful job and
requires
a lot of concentration and trust between you and the driver. We raced at
Claremont Speedway until 2002 when the track no longer supported our division.
In 2003 I went to work with Green Mountain Racin' #57 Pro Stock who ran at
Canaan Speedway in Canaan, NH until 2005. We won back to back champions in
2004 and 2005. The team dissolved just prior to the 2006 season.
In 2006 I went to spot for Russ Hersey #88 Pro Stock who raced at Monadnock
Speedway in Winchester, NH. In 2007 we won Track Champion.
This year my spotting duties have been alternating between Russ Hersey and
the "08 Pro Stock of Bucky Demers. Since neither of these drivers are
running
for points this allows me a little more flexibility.
I just started spotting for Dallas Trombley who run's the #25 Late Model at
Twin State Speedway on Friday nights so that should get me my fill of racing for
the weekend.
That gives me three Pro Stock track champions under my belt, and that is a good
feeling.
I hope to continue my duties as spotter for as long as I can still get to the
track!
If you click on the pics page there are pictures of all of the people I have
spotted for.
Well, That's my story I hope you enjoyed it.
